## Description
**Role Purpose:**
The Psychometrist, under the supervision of the Neuropsychologist, assists in administering and scoring neuropsychological tests.
**Responsibilities:**
1) The Psychometrist will be available to patients, physicians, and referral sources in order to provide the best possible service:
* Assists the physician by administering and scoring psychological tests.
* Follows up with patients who fail to keep appointments; and notifies referral sources when necessary.
* Trains new Psychometrists on daily job responsibilities in addition to administering and scoring tests.
* Manages schedules to ensure appropriate testing times and availability of physician.
2) The Psychometrist will provide assessment service in accordance with the best practices of the profession.
* Administers a wide range of psychological tests to patients.
* Makes recommendations and collaborates with Neuropsychologist regarding alternate or additional tests that may be appropriate.
* Scores tests using best judgment on subjective items.
* Learns how to administer and score new tests.
* Codes data for computer entry.
* Documents test data in Epic.
* Assesses and document patient behavioral cues pre-test, testing and post-test.
* Administers and scores computer-based tests.
3) The Psychometrist will communicate verbally and in writing with physicians, patients, and care providers in an efficient and timely manner.
* Communicates with school psychologist and nursing staff when appropriate.
* Sets patient expectations by providing information and education regarding what to expect before and during testing.
* Gives directions and administers tests according to strict guidelines.
* Compiles relevant information from care providers and schools to be filed in chart.
4) The Psychometrist will maintain the flow of administrative tasks in order to achieve quality patient care.
* Organizes testing files, materials and other paperwork daily.
* Orders historical testing files as needed.
* Manages files that contain dictated reports and raw data.
* Manages supply of testing materials.
* Maintains computer literacy with: standard Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook), electronic patient medical records systems (Epic); Windows and DOS-based neuropsychological testing applications.
5) The Psychometrist will maintain the high professional and ethical standards of Dean Medical Group.
* Coordinates the release of medical information to patients and care providers with the Health Information Services department according to SSM Health Dean Medical Group guidelines.
* Maintains patient confidentiality.
* Exercises professionalism in all aspects of patient interaction.
6) Performs other duties as assigned.

## Qualifications
**Required:**
1. Bachelor's degree in psychology, teaching or related field.
2. Exceptional customer service skills.
3. Must have the skills and enjoy working with cognitively impaired patients for extended periods of time.
4. Detail oriented.

5. Ability to safely lift up to 20 pounds and to push/pull up to 100 pounds when working with equipment, pushing wheelchairs or assisting with patient handling tasks.
