Special Education Teacher
The Department of Health Services (DHS) is looking for a talented professional to fill a Teacher vacancy at theCentral Wisconsin Center (CWC) for the Developmentally Disabled. CWC is one of three state operated Intermediate Care Facilities for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) which provides residential care and active treatment to approximately 200 individuals.

This position is responsible for designing and implementing an educational program to meet the individual needs of students diagnosed with developmental disabilities and severe behavioral disabilities/cognitive disabilities and/or learning disabilities. This position is also responsible for completing all required documentation and monitoring of goal progress for both the Cardinal School and CWC. This position provides training to others and engages in special projects upon request, as well as participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
**Special Notes:**
Due to the nature of the position, all applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by CWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.
**Qualifications:**
*Minimally qualified applicants*will be licensed or eligible to be licensed from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in at least **_one_**of the following areas for early adolescence to adolescence (level 73, age 10-21) or early childhood to adolescence (level 74, birth - age 21):
* Cross-Categorical Teaching (801 or 1801)
* Cognitive Disabilities (810 or 1810)
* Emotional and Behavioral Disabilities (830 or 1830)
* Learning Disabilities (811 or 1811)
*(Eligible is defined as your license application is currently in progress with the WI Department of Public Instruction or you currently hold a license in one of the above categories in another state and are eligible to obtain and license in the State of Wisconsin.)*
*In addition, well-qualified applicants will have the following*:
* Experience working with and/or teaching students who have been diagnosed with cognitive, behavioral, psychiatric challenges and/or learning disabilities.
* Experience assessing students to determine their strengths and weaknesses using informal and standardized testing.
* Experience writing Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for students.
* Knowledge of appropriate behavior analytic intervention techniques.
* Experience communicating both written and verbally with other professionals regarding the care of students (i.e., therapists, psychologists, social workers, etc.)
